DAVID HORNE & CHINYEE CHU
David is qualified academic professional makeup artist who has more than 25 years’ experience as a highly sought after IMATS Stage Educator, UMAExpo Exhibitor, guest speaker, makeup designer and product innovator working in all areas of the professional makeup industry.
He has been a driving force behind the launch of the successful new book The Art of Male Makeup.
He has held managerial and directorial roles at MAC and created cult Illamasqua products such as Skin Base, Skin Base Lift, Hydra Veil and Matte Veil as well as maintaining a freelance career. He is a former academic senior lecturer and course pathway leader at London College of Fashion and has mentored and led many of his students to success in the fashion and music genres of the professional makeup industry.
As Creative Director at House of GlamDolls, Chinyee Chu brings a wealth of diverse creative and professional business skills to the brand. She has been working in the makeup industry for over 15 years with managerial roles at MAC and Illamasqua within roles such as Artist Relations and Business Manager.
Chinyee started her career as a Window Stylist at Harvey Nichols and soon managed her own business as a Bespoke Jewellery Designer to her private celebrity design clientele and designing jewellery for high profile catwalk shows in London and Japan. She joined MAC by chance by having to go through their heaving counter at Harvey Nichols in the mid-90’s carrying mannequins and props to the windows and never looked back on her career within behind the scenes of the makeup industry.
Fusing classical corporate skills gained at Estee Lauder with a variety of creative skills gained at both Harvey Nichols and with her private design work, her unique diverse creative ability has blossomed at the House of GlamDolls studio where she has overseen interiors and furniture design. Chinyee has evolved several Makeup School strategies and continues to own and oversee the daily management side of the school to ensure a high level of qualitative student care.
